Sweco Belgium and BUUR have decided to join forces

26 January 2021

Sweco Belgium and BUUR have decided to join forces in order to realize a common mission: the co-creation of a high quality and sustainable living environment for future generations. BUUR strengthens Sweco's interdisciplinary approach and will form one team with Urban.Habitat that will operate under the name BUUR Part of Sweco.

"This decision was not taken overnight", says Johan Van Reeth from BUUR. "BUUR and Sweco already worked together regularly in interdisciplinary teams. The realization has grown that the challenges are becoming more complex and urgent. It is more important than ever to create a greater impact for the benefit of the necessary social transition, for future generations, for our planet. This requires ambition, creativity and innovation. BUUR and Sweco want to make this happen, starting today, in consultation with all stakeholders, across disciplines and sectors, in different contexts."

"By combining the activities of Sweco and BUUR, we strengthen our expertise in strategic and spatial planning, urban design, mobility and the realization of public spaces and landscapes. We guarantee an integrated vision and collaboration between disciplines such as infrastructure, energy, buildings and environmental technology. Together, we consciously want to set an example in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia. With the support of the international Sweco group, we are positioning ourselves in Europe and globally as a partner in transition", concludes Van Reeth.
