M Leuven takes big step forward in digitization and opens 24/7

23 June 2022

As of today, M Leuven will be available for virtual visits 24/ 7. With the launch of the new website, the 360° tours, magazines, podcasts and, of course, the activities in the museum itself can be viewed easily. After the summer, the collection can also be dived into digitally at mleuven.be. In this way, the museum is bringing high-tech and creativity closer together.

"M is actively pursuing digitization and in this way bringing art to the people as much as possible. This can be done in many ways: from 360° tours where you virtually walk through exhibitions to podcasts that tell stories of the artists and restorations. Starting in the fall, the collection database will also be added. The 52,000 pieces that M has in collection and on loan will be added piece by piece."

"You will be able to view the 'Last Supper' by Flemish Master Dieric Bouts in detail from a sunny terrace or from your armchair. But of course we prefer to see everyone in M itself, and that's where the calendar overview with all our exhibitions, guided tours, family activities...", says Denise Vandevoort, alderman for culture and chair of M's board of directors.

Hanne Grégoire, head of the communication and press department, continues: "M is an all-inclusive museum, which means that we do everything we can to be as accessible as possible and that is no different at mleuven.be. Together with our partner Minsky we created a clear, accessible website that can grow with what we need: from documents that people on the autism spectrum can use as a guide to the possibility to view collection pieces in 3D. At M, we create a lot of quality content for very diverse audiences, and this website showcases all that work beautifully."

Many people know the museum by its old name 'Museum M' or 'M-Museum'. The new designation M Leuven or M for short, which has been in use since 2019, will be continued in all means of communication, including MLeuven.be.
