Known as an innovative member of the Shinzo Abe administry, Minister Hirai was very pleased to meet prominent members of one of Europe's finest research centers.

The mayor of Leuven, Mohamed Ridouani, was also present to receive the Japanese delegation in his city. "Leuven seeks continuously to expand its international relations, and Japan is known for its innovative high-tech climate. The visit of the Japanese minister is therefore an honour for Leuven, and it will certainly further consolidate and improve the relationships between Leuven-based and Japanese companies."
