Cities can monitor air pollution thanks to joint research by UCLL and Telenet
The first so-called “snuffle pole” has been put in place in Hasselt. This project has been realized through joint research by two Leuven MindGate members: UCLL and Telenet, together with the local hospital in Hasselt.
The poles carry equipment to measure air quality. In time around forty “snuffle poles” will be installed across the city. Hasselt is the first city with a snuffle post to measure amongst other things levels of particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide.
The first pole was inaugurated on February 15.
