Last week, De Standaard and Bonka Circus won a silver EFFIE for the CurieuzeNeuzen Vlaanderen campaign.
“If you have a nose for a strong strategy, and you implement it into the smallest detail, you deserve a silver Effie,” the jury consisting of 30 marketing professionals of the Effie Awards Belgium stated.
Every year, the Effies are awarded to the most effective marketing campaigns. This year, 18 projects got a nomination, 14 of which were awarded. In total, 2 golden, 4 silver and 8 bronze Effies were granted.
CurieuzeNeuzen Vlaanderen was the largest citizen science research on air quality ever. 20.000 people in Flanders measured the air quality in their street. The project was a collaboration between De Standaard, the University of Antwerp, HIVA-KUL, VITO, VMM, Bonka Circus and… 20.000 CurieuzeNeuzen.
Bonka Circus states: "We are very pleased with this award since CurieuzeNeuzen Vlaanderen is a perfect example of how we reached large public support for research on air quality by using a neutral, positive message. Within three weeks’ time, 52.000 people applied to take part in the research. With results in the interest of every citizen. Content with a purpose at its best."
