aNNo wins European heritage award / Europa Nostra Award 2022
Battery Aachen, which is part of the Atlantikwall Raversyde open-air museum - located in the provincial domain of the same name, is a laureate of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2022 within the category 'Conservation and Adaptive Reuse'. It is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of heritage, presented by the European Commission and Europa Nostra and funded by the EU Creative Europe program.
The European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards recognize and promote the highest standards in heritage interventions, research, and education, training and awareness, as well as the long-standing dedication of professionals and volunteers.
The solemn unveiling of the bronze plaque will take place on September 2 in Atlantikwall Raversyde at Battery Aachen.
The awards will be presented to the winners on September 26 in Prague during the European Heritage Awards Ceremony.
Jury of the awards quotes, "The revitalization of Battery Aachen is unique in its kind, with great European significance and educational value. This well-restored heritage calls on its visitors to think about how peace can be built after a terrible war. The integration of contemporary art into the heritage space is commendable".
