Sylvester wins Golden BEA Award for major event

3 December 2021

Last week, the Belgian Event Awards (BEAs) were presented at the Nekkerhal in Mechelen. These awards are given to the most prestigious events in Belgium every year.

Sylvester

As an event agency, Leuven MindGate member Sylvester was able to take home a golden award in the institutional events category. "A fantastic recognition of the phenomenal efforts made by the Sylvester team over the past two pandemic years as well as their great flexibility and perseverance," says Geert Vanoverschelde, CEO of Sylvester.

The previous edition of this high mass of the Belgian event sector was cancelled due to the coronation measures in place at the time. This meant that this year there was a double celebration: in all categories - B2B, B2C, B2E and Institutional - a golden BEA award was presented for 2020 and a ditto series for 2021.

Golden BEA

The Golden BEA in the Institutional 2020 category went to one of the biggest Sylvester events of recent years: the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Antwerp during the Second World War.

This event took place on September 7 and 8, 2019. Among other things, a historic military parade and an impressive spectacle including projection on the City Hall took place then. As many as 160 000 visitors were part of this impressive commemoration.

Three Sylvester events in final round

But 75 years of liberation was not the only event for which Sylvester received high praise from the BEA jury. They were also nominated with two other cases for the final round of the BEAs. The awards show of the presentation of the Ultimas (the Flemish culture awards) received a podium place in the category Institutional 2021. With their own Think Hybrid event, in which Sylvester introduced and explained the hybrid event format to the sector, they were a noted finalist in the B2B 2021 category.
