Unix system engineer
As a Unix Support Engineer, you are responsible for the operational management and support of Unix-based systems within our ICT environment.
What you will do
As a Unix Support Engineer, you are responsible for the operational management and support of Unix-based systems within our ICT environment. You play a key role in ensuring a stable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure by providing 2nd line support, executing ITIL-based operational tasks, and contributing to project implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support & Incident Management:
- Provide 2nd line support for Unix servers, resolving incidents and service requests efficiently.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot OS, performance, and connectivity issues related to Unix environments.
- Escalate complex issues to 3rd line support when necessary, ensuring proper documentation.
- Work within ITIL frameworks to manage incidents, problems, changes, and service requests.
- System Management & Maintenance:
- Perform OS patching, security updates, and compliance checks.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot resource-related issues.
- Maintain user and access management in Unix environments.
- Ensure proper backup and disaster recovery procedures are in place.
- Project Execution & Continuous Improvement:
- Assist in the deployment and migration of Unix-based systems.
- Support automation initiatives to streamline operational processes.
- Participate in testing and implementation of new tools and configurations.
- Document procedures and share knowledge with team members.

Who you are
- Experience with Unix/Linux distributions (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu).
- Strong troubleshooting skills in Unix environments.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes, including incident, problem, and change management.
- Knowledge of shell scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible).
- Understanding of security best practices, including hardening and patch management.
- Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning.
- Excellent communication skills and a service-oriented mindset.
