What you will do

As the FOS Team Lead, you will guide a team of talented individuals that leverage imec's advanced manufacturing capabilities, such as extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography and advanced materials to design and characterize cutting-edge optical systems.

In this job, your main tasks will be:

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Coach and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Set clear goals for team members and provide ongoing feedback to encourage professional growth.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance team cohesion and individual potential.

Resource Management:

  • Manage team resources efficiently, including planning and staffing for ongoing and future projects.
  • Optimize resource allocation to ensure the successful execution of projects within established timelines and budgets.

Impact and Outreach:

  • Explore opportunities to increase the impact and outreach of the FOS team within the organization and the industry.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for collaboration and synergies.

Operational and Technical Excellence:

  • Ensure operational and technical excellence within the FOS team.
  • Address technical challenges related to design or characterization, fostering a culture of problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Identify and recruit top talent to strengthen the FOS team.
  • Participate in the hiring process, conducting interviews and making strategic hiring decisions.

Collaboration and Alignment:

  • Interact and align with group and department leadership to ensure seamless coordination and integration of FOS team activities.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and key achievements.

Who you are

You have:

  • PhD in engineering, optics, physics or equivalent, or 5 years of directly relevant experience in a research/industrial environment
  • Extensive experience in flat optic systems, with a strong background in areas such as EUV lithography, color directors, gratings, optical guides, and meta materials and meta lenses.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to address technical challenges in the field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and attract top talent to the team.
