What you will do

The semiconductor roadmap is undergoing significant changes as scaling walls are reached: systems get limited in performance, power/thermal management, memory. These limits push the industry toward new approaches in design and innovation. System-technology co-optimization (STCO) explores how the right combinations of technology and architecture choices can unlock these major system scaling bottlenecks. By aligning technology innovation elements (ie advanced back-side power delivery, 3D IC stacking, novel memory technologies) with applications specific needs (in mobile, AI, high-performance computing, AR/VR) STCO enables to continue the roadmap. STCO research requires the integration of many disciplines, each dealing with widely different scales and at different levels of abstraction. A challenge is thus to build a proper set of abstraction layers from one domain to another across the system stack without losing critical information along the way. Achieving this successfully requires expertise across each domain, but most of all close collaboration and interaction among researchers from these different disciplines.etc In this Team leader position, you will support and empower a diverse team of about 10 researchers working at the interface of system architecture and semiconductor technology. Skills span from technology aware microarchitecture, advanced physical design, data movement in 3D and 2.5D packages, multi-scale thermal and power modelling, design space exploration tooling, to novel memory systems. In this context, you will foster team cohesion and collaboration, encourage innovative problem-solving, strengthen the team internal and external network, develop and seek the right technical guidance and consolidation of methodologies. You will support individual growth and create an inclusive, enjoyable, collaborative and high-performing team environment. You will collaborate closely with the research program directors and program managers, empowering the team to realize research goals and make sure project timelines can be met effectively.
