Researcher Advanced Optical Modulation
Expert in integrated optical design and advanced materials for high-speed optical phase shifting and modulation.
What you will do
Levering imec ‘s advanced manufacturing capabilities and technologies such as SiN, Si photonics and many more, our group focuses on integrated and flat optic systems. The group designs and characterizes PICs and optical systems to target various applications in diverse domains such as sensing for metrology or life sciences, beamforming for location, ranging or telecommunication, and flat optics for display and imaging. In this job, your focus will be on:
- Developing high speed integrated photonic modulators in advanced material systems
- Making integrated photonic designs, including modeling, simulations, and layout
- Characterizing materials and integrated optical devices
- Interfacing with a team working on a broad range of topics.

Who you are
- You have a PhD (or equivalent) and 2 years’ experience
- You have experience in designing high speed optical phase shifters and modulators
- You have experience in high-speed characterization techniques
- You are an experienced integrated photonic designer
- You have knowledge of optical and electro-optical material characterization
- You can work according to agreed timelines and manage time efficiently according to aggressive project schedules
- You take initiative and work independently, while being part of a team.
- You are result-driven and flexible to meet stringent deadlines with quality output
The imec environment requires a good team player with customer-oriented communication and reporting skills. Given the international character of imec, a good knowledge of English is mandatory.
