R&D Project Engineer – Pathfinding Integration Operations

The R&D Project Engineer is responsible for day-to-day high quality and highly efficient output of the Pathfinding Integration department. Together with the Platform & Operations Efficiency Team and in close collaboration with our Fab Engineering counterpart you enable the speed of learning in our 300mm pathfinding activities (3D, Compute & Memory) and you drive to the required results, by constantly seeking improvements. Effective solutions for day-to-day problems regarding resource management, cycle time performance and delivering value on time are your first focus. Your practical experience is crucial to manage goals, milestones, set the right priorities and ensure high quality support. You enjoy working with solid knowledge, clear goals and up to date work planning. You create a climate of cooperation and generate win-win outcomes.

What you will do

  • You are in close contact with Fab Engineering teams, such that you stay up to date with trends and evolutions in our industry with respect to hardware and process applications in our clean room.
  • You ensure 7/7 Operational Continuity in the most effective way by following up of the day-to-day R&D Pathfinding Integration “work in process” activities.
  • You optimise the performance of our R&D Pathfinding Integration department, leading different Operational Excellence projects, working in close collaboration with
  • Fab Engineering counterpart and Platform & Operations Efficiency Team.
  • You are responsible for identifying, initiating and implementation of Operational Efficiency improvement ideas.
  • You are responsible for achieving the different KPI’s set within the Pathfinding Integration department: ensure delivering value on time towards our internal and external customers.
  • You communicate status and issues to peers, customers as well as the management team.
  • You will work in day shift, including 1 weekend (Sa/Su) out of 4, to support the 24h by 7d FAB.

Who you are

You obtained preferably a Master's degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences. You like project ownership and you are grounded in a solid technical background. Working across diverse projects appeals to you.
You inspire trust and confidence, and you are enthusiast to take up challenges and reach ambitious objectives to align operational excellence and customer experience. Former experience (3+ years) in a production or development environment is preferred.

Preferably, you combine a maximum of the following skills:

  • Having relevant (hands-on) experience in operation way of working in a clean room environment.
  • You enjoy sharing knowledge and technical information with comfort and clarity. You can build bridges between different departments and stakeholders (e.g. Unit
  • Process Development, Integration Engineers, Fab Engineering, Quality Team, ..).
  • Process & Quality driven problem solver: You manage multiple priorities with a proactive “can do” attitude. Thanks to your result-oriented focus and sense of urgency, you can drive projects to closure in a fast-paced environment. You are familiar with the 8D methodology to identify, correct, and eliminate recurring problems.
  • Analytical thinker: You quickly detect and define problems. You can set-up a coherent action plans and coach problem solving.
  • You have experience in planning and leading improvement projects.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across departments in a productive manner.
  • You are a good team player but at the same time can work well without supervision, and you are stress resistant.
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and project management skills are key skills.
  • Given the international character of imec, excellent English verbal and written communication skills are required to be effective in this position
