R&D metrology Engineer

As R&D metrology engineer for 3D IC integration, you will develop advanced metrology to address 3DIC scaling roadmap challenges.

What you will do

You will be part of the metrology and inspection (M&I) group within the Advanced Patterning department. As R&D metrology Engineer for 3D IC integration, you will:

  • Work in close collaboration with 3DIC / Advanced Wafer Level Packaging program and integration teams
  • Identify metrology/inspection challenges and imec capability gaps linked to the 3DIC scaling roadmap. This includes mostly overlay metrology but may include other challenges like Critical Dimension (CD) metrology, defectivity and inspection but also edge roll-off, die tilt, wafer warpage etc...
  • Be the IMEC contact person for a tool, providing training and knowledge transfer to IMEC personnel.
  • Create advanced recipes on the tool for internal customers
  • Own and drive a JDP with a major metrology supplier for 3D IC.
  • Investigate the limits of the techniques you work with through fundamental understanding by literature search, simulations, physical modeling etc...
  • Eventually run external demos and propose innovative solutions when existing techniques do not solve identified gaps
  • Report your work internally and externally (project reviews, workshops, conferences or journal papers).
