Coordinate and lead projects within the TEM team ranging from EU-projects, JDP's, internal improvements to hands-on support of service and R&D while maintaining a strong connection towards integration department.

In the TEM team of the material characterization and analysis department at imec, we harness an array of specialized physical and chemical methods to support our advanced semiconductor device development. As a TEM project lead, you will be at the forefront of this innovation, coordinating and executing TEM projects but also support service and R&D requests that characterize our CMORE (MEMS, actuators, sensors…) and Core (Logic, Memory, Interconnect, 3D…) technologies to maintain hands-on experience.
What you will do
As a TEM project lead you will be a part of the team that provides a detail-oriented TEM service based on newly investigated and implemented methodologies. Your mission will be to understand new needs, define high level plans and follow up on customer specific collaborations so we can translate this into a roadmap of the methodologies needed in the future.
Diverse Range of Tasks:
- You will be the preferred contact point between the customer, business development and the technical teams.
- You will generate the overall High-Level Plans and align with the different sectors of imec.
- You will generate project proposals and execute projects from inception to delivery in agreement with customer request from the perspective of target timings, deliverables and costs.
- For each of the multiple projects in execution, you will report on status and progress both internally and externally.
- You will drive the projects to be completed within time, costs and scope agreements. Your strong management skills will steer you to solve issues and only escalate adequately.
- You keep your level of scientific know-how up to date and benchmarks imec’s expertise and performance in your competence domain with the rest of the world.
- You are an expert in SEM/TEM inspections, staying up to date with the current evolutions of the tools, focusing particularly on semiconductor materials.
- You participate in service and R&D activities of the team.
- You maintain close contacts with suppliers, reviewing bids and selecting appropriate partners.
- You will seek constant improvements in both the quality and learning speed of project within the team. We will count on you to bring new ideas and help implementing them.

Who you are
We are looking for experienced TEM specialist, who is familiar with the semiconductor industry. Please include a motivation letter in your application.
Minimum requirements:
- You have preferably, a PhD degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry and related fields, and hands-on experience with automated metrology and SEM/TEM inspections within the semiconductor industry.
- You have >5 years’ experience in a semiconductor environment.
- You have excellent communication skills, have a team player attitude, and have a strong eagerness to learn.
- Willingness to work in early and late shift regimes, including one weekend per month.
- You have strong analytical skills, and a keen interest in understanding new semiconductor materials and advanced structures.
- You are an enthusiastic team player with project management capabilities and show high level of independence
- You are eager to work in a highly competitive field and a multicultural environment.
Additional skills considered as an asset:
- Experience with writing, coordinating projects (EU-projects, tool suppliers, academia, …)
- Programming knowledge in advanced software packages (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
