Dispelix Oy is an internationally recognized company specialized in augmented reality waveguide displays. Our waveguide technology is based on surface-relief gratings on a high refractive index substrate. Our self-developed unique methods of making the see-through displays power AR experiences that push boundaries. Dispelix Oy was founded in 2015 and is a fast-growing company with 130+ employees and more than 30 different nationalities in our team. We are operating in global locations including offices in Finland, Espoo (HQ) and Joensuu, the United States, and China.

As part of our expansion strategy, we plan to open a new R&D site in Europe. The most potential locations for this new site are Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. We are now looking at different cities in these countries to find out where we can find the right talent and environment.

To find the right talent, Dispelix is now making an Open Call for talented and motivated Optical Waveguide Design Engineers / Research Scientists to join our team at the new R&D site location.

The location of the new R&D site has not yet been decided and our decision regarding the location will be strongly guided by the right kind of talent pool. Yet, no matter where you live and no matter what our decision regarding the location will be, with your permission, you will be considered when the open positions at the new R&D location will be filled.

With Dispelix and the new R&D site, you will be involved in the development of state-of-the-art waveguides for internal research and development projects and, engaging with customers and customer projects.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Researching, developing, and engineering new optical solutions
    for next-generation see-through optical waveguide displays
  • Researching and solving the mathematical and numerical challenges
    of optical waveguides and diffractive optics
  • Designing state-of-the-art diffractive waveguides for near-eye display applications
  • Collaborating with the internal software team to improve the
    waveguide design capabilities
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure waveguide designs that are compatible with mass manufacturing
    (Design for Manufacturing)

We appreciate the following:

  • PhD degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience in diffractive optics design and optimization
  • Experience in electromagnetic theory and computation
  • Experience in optimization problems, their numerical solutions and algorithms
  • Knowledge of numerical analysis, matrix analysis and/or some other relevant mathematical discipline
  • Knowledge of basic optics, including illumination, imaging, physical and geometrical optics, ray tracing, polarization control, coherence theory,
    and colorimetry
