Group/Division

The ICOS Vision Systems division focuses on the backend of the line semiconductor industry providing fully automated tools to inspect and sort, finished integrated circuit packages. For more than 15 years, ICOS has been a market leader with tray-to-tray and tray-to-tape inspection and sorting tools found in the production facilities of all major chipmakers in the world. Our market-leading technology and superior customer service requires strong talent in optics, machine control, algorithms and applications within our engineering teams. The ICOS division headquarters are in Leuven, Belgium with additional engineering and manufacturing operations in Singapore and Shenzhen (China).

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

  • Responsible for the successful transfer of new opto-mechanical designs from the design center in Leuven to the operations facilities in Asia.
  • Be part of the design team to drive new designs for cost, manufacturability, assembly & test cycle time and quality. Validate releases of new products including Bill of Material integrity, documentation, make/buy decisions, etc.
  • Work with design engineers to identify, specify, document and implement manufacturing methods, procedures, and test equipment required for assembly and test of new designs. Provide training to the manufacturing engineers at the remote production facilities. Interact with supply chain and planning teams on materials issues. This will require daily cooperation with and occasional travel to the operations teams in Asia.
  • Review and approve sales orders for beta validation of new releases.
  • Represent the design engineering team in reviews with the operations team and - management.
  • Conduct regular training to the design engineering teams on deliverables for successful transfer of new designs to operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related fields with experience in manufacturing
  • In-depth understanding of optical, mechanical, electrical, and software components involved in the design and development of optical-based, semiconductor inspection equipment or equivalent
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, project management and interpersonal skills
  • A keen technical mind, an eye for detail, a positive drive, yet a teammate with leadership skills respecting opinions of others while committing to results and continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to absorb and transfer knowledge to others. Product training experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in English (both verbal and written) is a must
  • Occasional travel to production sites.
