Investment Analyst/Associate Venture Capital Capricorn Partners

The Capricorn Digital Team is looking to expand its investment team in Leuven (Belgium) with a dynamic Investment Analyst or Associate.

Building on a strong track record, we aim to source, assess and manage investments in innovative startup and scale-up companies recognized for their excellent team, innovative technology,

breakthrough potential, scalable operations, international ambitions and intrinsic capacity for superior financial return.

Our investment strategy focuses on companies that leverage technologies (digital twin, AI, IoT, deep learning, etc.) to turn data into actionable insights in business 4.0, as well as in digital healthcare.

As part of our Capricorn Digital team, you will help to build a successful portfolio for the Capricorn Digital Growth Fund in areas of data driven transformations. Your main focus will be on companies in business 4.0 area including industry 4.0 and proptech.

Job description
• Contribute to dealflow activities with a focus on scouting, screening and evaluating new investment opportunities. Attend industry events and meet with entrepreneurs. Manage and improve the dealflow CRM system.
• Research interesting technology spaces and markets to identify new trends and innovations to set up investment theses
• Assist the investment managers with due diligence and coaching of portfolio companies
• Assess and screen investment opportunities from an ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) perspective and contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals
• Represent Capricorn Partners within the broad technology/entrepreneurial/ VC ecosystem
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the Capricorn operations to drive our growth
• Be flexible in helping out where needed and get involved in all aspects of the VC business

Core qualifications and requirements
• Preferred degrees are Computer Science, Data science, Engineering, Physics or a related field. PhD or MBA is a plus, but not a requirement.
• 1-4 years of professional experience related to our target investment areas, either in a corporate environment, a start-up, management consulting or an investment fund (having done projects for relevant clients)
• Deep technology passion with experience proofpoints of your technical curiosity. Hands-on experience with data science/Artificial Intelligence is a plus.
• Business acumen to navigate between different industries with agility
• Enthusiastic and curious about innovation and entrepreneurship.
• Fluency in English is a must; Dutch or fluency in an additional European language is a plus
• Positive can-do attitude. Self-starter, needing only limited guidance and able to rapidly take ownership
• Flexible and willing to get involved in many different aspects of the venture capital business where required
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills

• Good balance between analytical and synthetic capabilities, having an eye for detailwhile keeping a helicopter view
• Good communicator, both oral as well as written. Comfortable with interfacing regularly with key stakeholders (both internally and externally).
• Able to produce well designed professional presentations.
