Department Director of Etch-Clean-CMP-Plating (ECCP)

As the Department Director of ECCP, you will provide operational, managerial and strategic leadership for the R&D unit responsible for developing process steps in Etch, Clean, CMP, and Plating (ECCP).

What you will do

In this role, you coach and inspire an enthusiastic and talented team of group managers, team leaders and R&D engineers in the expertise centers of Etch, Clean CMP and Plating to support exploratory, pathfinding, and development activities, demonstrating the functionality and manufacturability of future devices in areas such as logic, memory, power, and RF to accelerate our partners' development. You will have a crucial role in the Unit Process and Module (UPM) department, which is dedicated to delivering industry-relevant material, process, and module solutions. We expect you to continuously build technical leadership with your teams, enhance responsiveness, and increase customer and industry awareness.

You will:

  • As a proven leader, you will be coaching and inspire an enthusiastic and talented team of group managers, team leaders and R&D engineers in the expertise centers of Etch, Clean CMP and Plating.
  • Translate and implement the strategy and vision for process development and module development across your teams in the department and the broader R&D stakeholder community in imec.
  • By defining the strategic objectives of your department, you facilitate existing R&D activities and stimulate new R&D initiatives in line with the overall mission.
  • Together with your team and experts in the field of Etch, Clean, CMP & Plating and based on the input from the business lines, you develop a medium- and long-term operational plan for the department. You coach your team in translating targets into specific milestones for the department members.
  • You set the right priorities to ensure high quality process development and follow up on progress and planning to reach those milestones (cf. balance scorecard, definition and follow-up of proper critical performance indicators, ...).
  • As a senior leader in UPM, you will support activities to increase operational efficiency of the UPM unit.
  • Collaborate executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations and systems.

Experience and Technical Competencies:

  • You obtained a PhD degree in the semiconductor R&D field.
  • You have at least 10+ years of experience (including managerial experience) in the semiconductor industry including unit process development or associated experiences.
  • You have a solid background in process step development in Etch, Clean, CMP or Plating.
  • You have extensive knowledge of R&D principles and procedures.
  • You have prior experience in leadership and people management roles.
