Advanced RF Metrology Engineer
We are seeking a highly motivated metrology engineer to join our team and perform hands-on measurements for super high frequency (100+ GHz) devices, integrated circuits as well as integrated modules.
Sector
Electronics & EngineeringWhat you will do
In the Advanced RF department at imec, we perform world-class research and technology for the next generations of wireless communication and RF based sensing systems. Application domains include 6G, radar, ADCs and edge AI. The technology ranges from transistor devices to circuits and chips, all the way up to full demonstrator systems. Its main focus is on (super) high frequency operation, ranging from DC to beyond 100 GHz. Performance measurement and functional validation of these new technologies is crucial to making it mature.
We are seeking a highly motivated metrology engineer to join our team and perform hands-on measurements for super high frequency (100+ GHz) devices, integrated circuits as well as integrated modules. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of lab equipment, experienced in RF measurements and operating probe stations. Understanding of network theory and knowledge of Python or Matlab is a plus.
In the advanced measurements and prototyping team, you will closely interact with the technology, circuit and system researchers.
You will focus on:
- Building measurements setups to measure and characterize devices (e.g. transistors), circuits and full (demo) systems from DC to sub-THz
- Use of vector network analyzers, (semi-automated) probe stations with general lab equipment to characterize devices and circuits (e.g. small/large signal, EVM, noise, load-pull, etc...).
- Automate repetitive measurement tasks into scripts and operational flows.
- Develop and maintain advanced measurement procedures.
- Coaching and trainining others how to operate the lab equipment.
What we do for you
We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will define the society of tomorrow.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer (http://www.imec-int.com/en/careers#diversity) and proud of our open, multicultural, and informal working environment with ample possibilities to take initiative and show responsibility. In everything we do, your future colleagues are guided by the imec values of passion, excellence, connectedness, and integrity. We commit to supporting and guiding you in this process, not only with words but also with tangible actions. Through imec.academy, 'our corporate university', we actively invest in your development to further your technical and personal growth.
We are aware that your valuable contribution makes imec a top player in its field. Your energy and commitment are therefore appreciated by means of a market appropriate salary with many fringe benefits.
Who you are
- You have a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in electronics engineering or related field with 3+ years of experience in high frequency (GHz) RF measurements.
- You have a background/strong interest in use of lab equipment and building test setups, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, vector network analyzers, and power supplies.
- Solid understanding and hands-on with vector network analyzers is key.
- Experience with probe station measurements and tuners is a plus.
- Proficiency in programming languages and understanding of network theory such as Python or Matlab is a plus.
- You have good documentation and communication skills.
- Given the international character of imec, good knowledge of English is a must.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
