The MeBioS Biostatistics group at the KU Leuven is a young and dynamic team that focuses on the use of statistics and optimization in a broad application field ranging from the agro-food to the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. We perform fundamental and applied research in design of experiments, statistical model building, process monitoring, multivariate data analysis and chemometrics.

In the framework of our close collaboration with industry leaders, we seek to strengthen our team with an experienced statistician.

  • Your main task will be to perform applied statistical research to solve real-world challenges brought to us by companies we collaborate with.
  • You will be the day-to-day contact person between the R&D divisions of these companies and our research group.
  • You will summarize the main results from the analyses and present these to the companies.
  • You will be involved in in-company trainings on industrial statistics.
  • You will be involved in the writing of follow-up projects.
  • You have a creative, critical, analytical and innovative mindset.
  • You are fascinated by industry-academia partnerships.
  • You have a broad background in statistics in general, as testified by a Master or PhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics, (Bioscience-)Engineering.
  • You have expertise in design of experiments and/or multivariate data analysis.
  • You have several years of experience in(applied) research, e.g. through your PhD training or previous jobs.
  • You have experience with statistical tools such as JMP, Matlab, Python and R.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • You are well-organized and can cope with strict deadlines.
  • A full-time position for 1 year. After positive evaluation, the contract can be extended.
