The Laboratory of Viral Cell Biology and Therapeutics (LVCBT) at KU Leuven is recruiting a highly motivated and skilled researcher to fulfill the role of Molecular Cell Biologist.

This vacancy is in the context of the establishment of a clinical program geared towards the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases using AAV vectors. This program will be performed in close collaboration with a biotech company and provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an exciting therapeutic modality.

The position is available immediately

  • You are part of a drug development team in a stimulating setting
  • You are responsible for generating customized cell lines for optimal viral vector production
  • You work with the upstream process development team to implement the use of the newly developed cell lines
  • You are responsible for reporting on the development process
  • You discuss progress of the research with the supervisor and with the industrial stakeholders
  • You have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Bio-engineering or equivalent, with minimum 3 years of experience
  • You have strong background knowledge in molecular and cell biology
  • You have hands-on experience in molecular biology (DNA cloning techniques, shRNA/siRNA technology, CRISPR Cas9,…)
  • Experience in high-throughput screening methods and molecular virology is a plus
  • You pay attention to details and produce high-quality work
  • You are a team player with strong communication skills
  • You are fluent in English
