The Centre of Expertise for Cooperative Entrepreneurship (Kenniscentrum voor Coöperatief Ondernemen - KCO) aims to set cooperatives, as a value-laden organizational model striving for economic democracy, on the research map and to position them more strongly in education. The Centre is hosted at the Faculty of Economics and Business of KU Leuven. In the framework of an FWO SBO-project, the KCO is recruiting a post-doctoral researcher, starting in 2020.

The postdoctoral researcher will join a team led by Prof. dr. Luc Sels, Prof. dr. Johan Bruneel and Prof. dr. Frédéric Dufays to work on multiple ongoing and new projects aiming to expand both theoretically and empirically our knowledge on and understanding of the governance of cooperative enterprises.

  • You contribute to ongoing research projects on cooperative governance and report on the results of your research through scientific and practitioner/policy-oriented publications, as well as conference presentations.
  • You coordinate and support the valorization activities of the SBO project.
  • You provide support in the daily supervision of doctoral candidates.
  • You participate in developing new research projects.
  • You have a PhD (or are close to completion) in Management, Organizations studies, Entrepreneurship, or related disciplines.
  • You have strong conceptual and analytical (quantitative methods) skills and have a commitment to research excellence.
  • You have experience with survey development and analysis with a statistical software (preferably STATA).
  • You are experienced in academic writing, demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • You have a keen interest in cooperatives, economic democracy, and related topics.
  • You have an interest in the valorization of research results.
  • You are able to manage a project, including the management of time and resources.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You have strong social skills and the ability to effectively communicate with different stakeholders.
  • Full-time position for a term of three years, with starting date in 2020.
  • Stimulating research environment, with a broad international network and a strong link with practitioners in the cooperative sector.
  • Salary determined in accordance with the legal salary grade systems existing at KU Leuven.
