This vacancy is in the context of the establishment of a clinical program geared towards the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases using AAV vectors.

The Laboratory of Viral Cell Biology and Therapeutics (LVCBT) at KU Leuven is recruiting an experienced, ambitious senior scientist to fulfill the role of program manager. LVCBT is one of the leading laboratories in adeno-associated virus (AAV) biology.

This vacancy is in the context of the establishment of a clinical program geared towards the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases using AAV vectors. This program will be performed in close collaboration with industry and hence provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of an exciting therapeutic modality.

Responsibilities
  • You are part of a management team in a stimulating setting
  • You provide scientific advice
  • You are responsible for keeping track of scientific progress
  • You ensure milestones are reached in a timely manner
  • You discuss progress with the PI of LVCBT and the industrial partner
  • You are responsible for preparing written reports
  • You coordinate collaborations between the KU Leuven team and other academic teams
  • You contribute to hands-on research when needed
Profile
  • You have a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences/bioscience engineering/pharmaceutical sciences
  • You have minimum 3 years of postdoctoral research experience
  • You are fluent in English
  • You have experience in project management
  • You have hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology; neuroscience research experience is a plus
  • You have excellent organisational skills
  • You have the ability to plan/manage at both the operational and strategic level
  • You are a team player with excellent written and verbals skills
