VIVES, the Research Centre for Regional Economics was established in 2008, embedded in the Faculty of Business and Economics at KU Leuven. With a team of more than 20 researchers and international fellows, VIVES carries out research on the determinants of (regional) growth and on the impact of industrial, monetary and fiscal policy on growth.

Professor Joep Konings is looking for an ambitious Ph.D. researcher to strengthen his team. S/he will be part of a large research program, which studies the future of macroeconomic analysis. In particular, it studies a new and different approach to analyze macroeconomic performance.

This approach is based on ‘big data’ of firms, products and prices. The focus of the work will be on the role of international shocks, such as exchange rate shocks, Brexit, corona, or other supply shocks, to explain output and price dynamics in a region and a country.Website unit
