5 Process Step Engineers

10 March 2020

Do you want to become part of the Unit Process and Module (UPM) department, where we deliver material and process innovation in close collaboration with imec’s industrial partners to demonstrate the manufacturability of future IC devices ahead of the industry needs? Join us!

What you will do

As a Process Step Engineer, you will contribute to optimize advanced process development within Chemical Mechanical Polishing, Wet Cleaning and Thin Film Deposition, all critical to the success of our research programs.

More concrete:

  • You will execute experiments on time.
  • You will define the process recipes on the tools, run the wafers and perform physical analysis. You interpret and summarize the results.
  • You will think along with your colleague engineers and scientists on the next steps to improve existing recipes as well as to explore and characterize novel processes. You will learn for example to use a DOE approach to define process windows and identify the optimal recipe settings that ensure stable and high-quality processes.
  • You will be responsible to enable imec's pilot production line to process non-standard processes and you troubleshoot in case unexpected problems occur. You will help to organize the work in the most efficient way.
  • We are looking for candidates with at least a Master’s degree in Engineering Technology or applied sciences (preferably in Physics, Material Sciences, Electronics, (Bio)Chemistry, Electromechanics).
  • We value your experience in cleanroom processing techniques such as CMP, Wet Processing, Thin Film Deposition techniques, etc.
  • As you are a team player, your colleagues can rely on you and you actively contribute to achieve common ambitious goals.
  • You are a communication superstar: You are customer focused and you enjoy sharing knowledge and technical information with comfort and clarity. These convincing and effective communication skills enable you to build bridges across different departments.
  • You like managing multiple priorities with a proactive “can do” attitude. Thanks to your result-orientedness and sense of urgency, you drive projects to closure and manage many simultaneous small improvement tracks in a fast-paced environment.
  • We are looking forward to your strong analytical skills: you like analyzing data, drawing conclusions and propose relevant follow up actions.
  • You enjoy a (high) level of autonomy in your work.

As timing is critical in our business, we are looking for people with strong analytical and organizational skills, who can analyze and respond effectively to incoming requests and issues in a timely manner. We need people who enjoy a (high) level of autonomy in their work, who are looking for an intellectual challenge, and foremost who are willing and able to learn fast.
