Help develop novel materials for tomorrow’s technologies in healthcare

What you will do

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that works towards the development of novel microchip solutions for neuro- and other technologies.

Your responsibilities are:

  • Investigate and characterize new materials for neurotechnology chips
  • Develop novel assays for electrochemical interfacing with cells and tissues using silicon chips
  • Report and present results to internal and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to imec’s Life Sciences roadmap by giving input as technical expert
  • You have a PhD degree in science or engineering.
  • You have hands-on experience in electrochemical measurements and setups.
  • You have experience with microfabrication technology.
  • You have experience in analyzing and interpreting large and complex datasets.
  • You have experience in project management.
  • Experience in electrode material characterization is a plus.
  • Experience in microelectrode array measurements is a plus.
  • You take initiative and work independently, while being part of a team.
  • You can guide and motivate team members in their work.
  • You can plan the work of a team according to deadlines and deliverables.
  • You are creative and like to think with the team to solve problems.
  • You are result-driven and can meet stringent deadlines with quality output.
  • You are flexible to accept new challenges in the future, and to evolve together with the changing R&D demands of our high-tech environment.

We are looking for a strong, independent, research-minded profile that can help us deepen the knowledge in material science, electrochemical measurements of electrodes, and investigate novel ways to study cellular interfaces. You are organized and accurate in collecting and storing data. You have proven to be a good communicator and team player, and you thrive in multi-cultural environments.
