The Leuven Region

Curious to see Leuven from a different perspective? Hear from our international Leuvenaars in our video testimonials!

Leuven MindGate seeks to keep our ecosystem flourishing by bringing all the stakeholders together and pushing new initiatives. We seek to strengthen what’s already here and to put the region even more on the international map. This works in both directions: encouraging foreign investment and partnerships as well as helping Leuven companies take their business beyond our borders.

Our companies also benefit from diverse teams: workplaces with employees with different backgrounds are the key to innovating. (You don’t have to take our word for it!) To this end, we want to boost your awareness of international opportunities, guide you in how to best achieve this, and support concrete tools that help Leuven companies hire international talent. We see our job as to put you in touch with the right person, the right company, and the right agencies to grow to your full potential.

We don’t have to tell you that the Leuven MindGate region is one of the world's prime regions for health, high-tech and creativity. A region with a unique ecosystem of companies cooperating with knowledge institutions and the government, creating the perfect breeding ground for companies, entrepreneurs, investors, and talent. Seen through the lens of internationalization, this image makes us the perfect place for international talent to come live, work, and play.

Regarding business development, Leuven MindGate participates in local, national and international projects in which companies, knowledge institutions and the government work closely together. With respect to internationalization, we engage in activities ranging from international missions to help local companies plan their own internationalization strategies.

There are already many internationals living here in Leuven, and working for Leuven MindGate members! We created a project of 10 videos showcasing their stories: why are they here, what do they do here, and what do they think of our Leuven MindGate?

This project’s main aim is to spread these videos far and wide to encourage talented internationals to move here. The project plays into our drive to internationalize the region. It is also a platform to show just how diverse Leuven already is. Click the links below to meet the international Leuvenaars we interviewed. We hope their stories will inspire you to reach out more beyond borders. We hope, that you enjoy seeing your region through their eyes!

What concrete things have we already put in place to make these promises reality? First and foremost, Leuven MindGate came up with and helped set up Leuven’s International House. An online platform and a physical space on the Tiensevest, International House is an information, knowledge and service center for internationals and their families, and for organizations in the Leuven region employing international talent.

They help clarify legal requirements, offer help with HR support for recruitment as well as retainment, and can help with acclimating and integrating your employees once they get here.
