The Visual Science of Art Conference 2019

The Visual Science of Art Conference (VSAC) was established in 2012 by Baingio Pinna in Alghero, Italy. Its main focus is to better connect the communities of visual scientists and artists in order to deepen our understanding of aesthetic phenomena. The VSAC is an ideal venue to debate and collaborate on all topics associated with the perception and evaluation of artworks.

The 7th edition of VSAC will be held in Leuven, Belgium, from August 21 to 24, 2019. Organized again as a satellite conference to the visual planet of the European Conference on Visual Perception (ECVP), VSAC invites all people that connect visual perception and the arts (e.g., empirical, experimental, philosophical, phenomenological, computational approaches). This year, more than ever before, we aim to be inclusive to all relevant disciplines from the arts, the humanities, and the sciences.

The program will include events specifically intended to facilitate interactions between people with different backgrounds, which is always a challenge in such cross-over events. In addition to the scientific program, an experienced curator team will organize a strong artistic program, with several exhibitions from established top artists as well as emerging younger artists, at several venues across the city. The Saturday will be exclusively devoted to the arts program, with guided tours, integrative symposia, and opportunities for interactions and discussions with the artists.
