By 2030, Leuven aims to be one of the most livable cities in Europe. By 2050, Leuven has the ambition to become a climate neutral city. These challenges are a joint effort of all societal actors : government, companies, knowledge institutions, citizens and investors.

The city's role in climate policy spans three yards.

  • First, the city aims to drastically reduce its own CO₂ emissions. To this end, it will take strong action on energy consumption and increase the share of renewable energy.
  • The city of Leuven will also pursue a policy that will enable a climate-neutral society throughout the city. Among other things, the city will focus on climate objectives in its spatial and mobility policy.
  • Supporting residents and companies in their efforts for the climate is the third important yardstick. Leuven will help its residents in their behavior and consumption, therefore changing the mindset towards making a climate-friendly choice whenever it is an option.

Companies play an important role on the road to climate neutrality. Therefore, we want to give you an overview of organizations, people, initiatives, … that can support you in integrating sustainability in your company.
